Soy Protein: Nutrition at its best

In order to promote health and fitness, it is essential to take a healthy, well balanced diet. Soy protein is one of the new age health foods regarded to be of optimum quality and is known to promote a plethora of health benefits. Soy is a high quality, complete, plant-based protein that is equal in protein quality to meat, milk and eggs. It is known to contain the highest PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility and Corrected Amino Acid Score) ranking for a protein (1.0), which is a standardized measure of the digestibility and accessibility of amino acids. It is referred to as the storage protein enclosed in individual particles called protein bodies which contain 60 - 70 % of the total soybean protein.

Soy Protein is a complete protein and is considered to be the best dietary supplement approved by the FDA. It is generally free of fat, lactose and cholesterol or has these substances in extremely low quantity. It is recommended for those who are lactose intolerant and can also be used as a substitute for meat. Soy Protein can be used for cooking in place of flour to make foods rich in protein and low in fat. The protein is derived from soy beans and goes a long way in benefiting bodybuilding enthusiasts and athletes.

Soy is a top notch protein and is one of the most important components of a vegetarian diet. It is the closest vegetarian protein that resembles meat protein. It has all the three amino acids necessary for development and nutrition. It can be obtained from various food sources such as soy, cheese, soy milk, tofu etc.

As per research, Soy protein helps lower cholesterol levels and LDL cholesterol which further helps reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. It can also raise the HDL cholesterol levels which are good for the body.

Benefits:

It is one of the best substitutes for meat protein and contains all three amino acids necessary for the growth and development of the body.

It reduces cholesterol levels in the body.

It helps reduce the risk of heart disease.

It helps to increase the nutritional value of other foods owing to the availability of all three amino acids.

It is approved by the FDA and is known to reduce heart disease and cholesterol levels in the human body.

It is also known to reduce the risk of prostrate, cancer, colon cancer and osteoroposis
It is also known for its antioxidant properties that help protect the body against harmful free radicals.

It boosts the immune system of the body.

Mechanism:

Soy protein is the best way to get animal protein in your diet. Its constituents include saponins, phytosterols, and isoflavones. They help in the process of absorption, boost the immune system and enhance digestion. The anabolic isoflavones in soy — genistein and daidzein are powerful antioxidants and also have various health benefits for both, men and women.

Dosage:

It can be taken in a wide range of doses. However, some people are allergic to soy and must avoid taking it. The FDA determines that diets with 4 servings of Soy on daily basis can reduce LDL cholesterol by up to 10%. Experts suggest a remarkable decline by 20% in the risk of heart disease by taking soy.

Before taking the protein, you must consult your physician in order to determine if the product is suited as per your body’s needs or not. You must also make note of any diseases you might be suffering from such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, stress related disorders, depression etc. before taking any product. Soy is a great protein for bodybuilders and athletes who are looking to develop lean muscle mass and shed excess fat on the body. A regular exercise routine combined with proper diet and rest along with a good supplementation plan can help you reach your goals faster.
