Bodybuilding Contests: Your stepping stone to fame
Bodybuilding is a sport that is admired by a number of men and women throughout the world but it is only a handful of them who step on stage and dare to bare it all. As a body builder you might have dedicated months or even years to the sport and worked day and night on your physique. Now that you have finally acquired the body of your dreams, it is time for you to expose it to the world and get recognized for all those years of toil.  Bodybuilding contests extend the opportunity of showcasing splendidly curved bodies and getting you instant fame and money.

Bodybuilding requires tremendous effort and will power. Once you have made up your mind to enter a contest, you need to prepare yourself for weeks of physical and mental discipline accompanied by a routine of strict exercise regime. The key to winning any contest is in being realistic and confident.

Since the sport is all about flaunting your well sculpted body and being judged on it, you must master the art of posing and showing off your muscles in front of an audience. A number of contestants tend to lose despite having wonderful bodies on account of the inability to pose properly.

Different Poses:

There are eight poses in bodybuilding which every contestant must know of. The length of the competition determines whether you do them all or not. Some of the most popular poses are:

•    The Quarter Turn
•    The Front and Rear double biceps
•    The Front and Rear lat spreads
•    The side triceps
•    The side chest
•    The front abdominal and thigh pose

Most competitions require you to give your most muscular pose which shows you off in the best way. The types of poses depend on the type of contest you have chosen to enter. Certain contests have the free posing round in which you get to pose to the music of your choice in well choreographed moves.

Contests:

There are a number of organizations and that sanction bodybuilding contests. NPC (National Physique Committee) is the largest one and is also your ticket to competing professionally in the IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders).
Other sanctioning organizations include WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation), INBF (International Natural Bodybuilding Federation) and USBF (United States Bodybuilding Federation).

Diet:

It is very important for you to concentrate on your diet and nutritional content before the contest. You have to be disciplined and have a strong willpower while following a strict diet plan. The ultimate goal of a competition diet is to make you shed extra fat and build up lean muscle mass. You need to increase the intake of protein and fiber in your daily meals at the same time lessening carbohydrates. You need to start your competition diet training at least 16 weeks before the contest. Your diet needs to be monitored on a regular basis in order to check your progress. Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water on a daily basis.

Supplements:

Since you are to increase muscle and minimize fat, you need to increase the regular intake of protein and fiber in your everyday food. Moreover, you are also exercising rigorously on a daily basis. This means that you need to build up a mechanism for muscle repair and rejuvenation. For this, you need to include a number of supplements in your food. A number of bodybuilding food supplements are available in the market these days like protein powders, Meal Replacement Powders (MRPs) and Fat burners.

Practice your poses:

In order to catch the judges’ eye at the bodybuilding contest, you need to learn how to pose from different angles. You can practice your pose in front of the mirror, get someone to photograph them or get a video of your workouts made. This can be discussed with an expert and help you in overcoming your flaws. It is also likely to boost your confidence when you look at how admirable you are.

Tanning:

This is one of the most popular techniques by means of which you can enhance your body tone in the competition thereby increasing your chances to win. Various tanning lotions, creams and oils are available for the contest in the market these days.

Bodybuilding is a passion for a number of enthusiasts. All of us want to look and feel good but it is only a handful of us who go to such lengths of rigorous training and discipline to acquire a great body. Bodybuilding contests are the best place where your talent and hardware will be recognized. If you have it, then you must go for it.
