Bodybuilding for teens

Bodybuilding is no longer confined to adults but is seeing a number of enthusiastic teenagers showing interest in the sport. In contemporary times, teen bodybuilding is witnessing a boon in the industry with hordes of teenagers eager to join health clubs, body building institutes and gymnasiums in order to get well sculpted bodies.

Teen bodybuilding has now become a rage. Teenagers want to have great bodies and be able to flaunt them in front of their friends. The role of the media is also potent in motivating youngsters to make a go for it. Teenagers and adolescents have impressionable minds. They tend to follow their role models and actors and sports personalities in a number of ways. Several teenagers are charmed by bodybuilders like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lee Priest and Jay Cutler who practiced the sport in their teens.

Today, teenage bodybuilding is a special category in the sport. Several organizations have come forward to sponsor teenage competitions and contests in various parts of the globe.

Youngsters from all walks of life are being lured into bodybuilding on account of a number of reasons. For some it is a way to enhance their self-esteem while others do it to impress their friends and peers. More and more teenagers are developing a positive attitude towards health and fitness and pursue bodybuilding because of that. Then there is the category of those who work-out for the love of the sport. They want to pursue it as a career in the long run as fitness trainers or as contestants.

Waiting for the right time: There is no right time or age for getting into the sport. However, your body must be ready to handle a rigorous work out and regime. It is an added advantage if you have been in the habit of performing fitness exercises.  You need to have a good stamina and will power to carry out the exercises for bodybuilding.

Training Mantra: The secret to enhancing your size lies in hardwork and dedication. The key to developing a great body lies in four factors— nutrition, supplements, relaxation and exercise.

Pro-bodybuilders and teenage obsession: A lot of teenagers have pro-body builders as role models. They are totally unaware of the fact that the bodies they are looking at are made of steroids. Teenagers think that consuming a few pills or taking a few injections can transform them overnight. They are oblivious to the fact that their so-called role models might have artificial implants on their pecs and calves. This can prove fatal in the long run.

Exercises: As a teenager you must focus on weight exercises such as pull ups, chin ups, push ups, dips and hyperextensions. You must first ensure that your body is sturdy enough to tolerate the physically powerful and meticulous weightlifting exercises involved in the process.

Bulking:  Here the focus lies on increasing the muscle mass and body fat. This is the initial stage of teen body building.

Contest Preparation: This is the second stage where more emphasis is laid on maintaining as much muscle as possible. Muscle definition is increased by reducing the excessive fat on the body by following a proper diet plan drawn out keeping the body type in mind.

Diet: Teenagers undergoing bodybuilding training should be extremely careful about their dietary intake.  A diet high on proteins, carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins is recommended. The food intake must enhance muscle development of the body. Going by expert advice, one gram of protein per pound of the body weight of the teenager should be the norm. Supplements can also be added to the diet to enhance muscle mass.

Benefits of getting into the sport in teenage:

Bodybuilding not only promotes the overall well being of an individual but also promotes the development of traits like patience and endurance. It helps in grooming teenagers into responsible and disciplined adults.

If an exercise pattern is set during adolescence most teenagers stick to it for a long time. They become aware of what is good for their bodies and what is not. While they are under training, they become aware of certain myths and stories that revolve around the sport and learn to face reality at an early age. The spirit of competition and true sportsmanship is inculcated in them and they are likely to become tomorrow’s responsible adults.

For developing great bodies the underlying technique is to eat healthy, follow the training schedule, take proper rest and listen to your coach.
