PABA is an antioxidant and helps fight the damaging effects of free radicals such as pollution, stress and ageing. It is also used in sunscreens as it helps protect the skin from the harmful ultra violet radiations of the sun. But, more research is required to determine this.

It is also known to promote hair growth and reverses the graying of hair. People suffering from vitiligo or over pigmentation of the skin showed considerable improvement after ingesting more quantities of PABA. It also helps in the breakdown of intestinal flora.
