Diet for Weight Lifting:

This is one of the most important aspects of weight training. It provides all the essential nutrients required by the body for growth and development. A high protein – high carbohydrate and low fat diet is recommended for weight lifters. The protein content helps build muscle, carbohydrates provide the required amount of energy for strenuous workouts and Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids enhance growth.

Rest

It is while you are sleeping that the body is rebuilding itself. Adequate amount of rest is necessary for weight lifters in order to repair their damaged muscles and gain mass.

Weight Lifting Supplementation

This is one of the most important aspects of weight lifting as it enables the body to gain weight, reduce excess fat, enhance mood and so on, depending on your requirements. It helps in increasing the overall intensity of the workouts. There are various types of supplements available in the market these days such as meal replacement products, protein powders, fat burners, weight gainers, energy bars, etc. You must select a supplement wisely based on the specific needs of your body.

Tips for Weight Lifting:

It is important to start your weight lifting exercises with a cardio workout. It prevents injury and gets the blood flowing to all the parts of the body.

Lift and lower the weights slowly. Avoid using momentum as this may result in muscle pulls.

At any point during the exercise do not hold your breath. Make sure to use full range of motion and pay attention to your posture and balance.

Before conducting any of the lifting exercises, you must consult a registered medical practitioner in order to determine if your body is capable of handling the pressure involved or not. You must also make note of any ailments or diseases you might be suffering from such as cancer, diabetes, heart problem, high blood pressure, depression, asthma etc. prior to enrolling in any training program. Also, mention these to your instructor so that he / she is able to chalk out the best suited plan depending on the requirements of your body. Never follow someone else’s training program as it might not benefit you in any way and may even prove fatal for your body type. With the required amount of consistency and dedication you will be able to reach your goals in a short period of time.
