A Look Into Creatine As A Body Building Nutrition
Creatine has been reputed as one of the most widely used natural body supplement. Before we go in depth with the kind of benefits or harms creatine could cause, let us try and have a look at what creatine actually is and by what mechanism does it act on the human body. Creatine is a nitrogenous organic acid, and is considered as vital in the vertebrates for providing energy to the muscles.
Creatine is the part of the internal energy requirement of the muscular cells and can have a positive impact on the availability of the nutrients and energy in the form of ATP to the muscular cells. Creatine itself is not active and its main action takes place when it is converted to creatine phosphate. The major sources of creatine are non vegetarian and it is mainly found in meat and fish. This is one of the reasons for the lack of creatine content in vegetarians.
Benefits of creatine to the body
Creatine has a lot of advantages in the human body, the major amongst which are its role in improving the neuromuscular functions, treatment of muscle fatigue and neurological diseases. Creatine has been very widely used for the improvement of lean body and muscular mass in athletes and is considered to be a safe supplement for this purpose.
Major problems with creatine usage
By contrast, a study of people entering the military (mostly young men) showed that the use of supplements such as steroid hormones and creatine that are used to increase muscle mass and strength, is associated with high-risk behaviors. People in this group are more likely to drink alcohol and to drink heavily, to ride in a car with a drunk driver or to drive drunk themselves, and to be in physical altercations. Another important problem is that most creatine products are also found to have other drugs which are not disclosed on the labels of the products leading to a problem of doping etc.

Honestly this is the first time that I’ve heard of creatine being linked to people with high-risk behaviors. Do you have an article or anything to back that up?
I guess you could say that a lot of younger guys that do a sort of bodybuilding may tend to be that way, but I think that’s a huge generality that isn’t true for a lot of people.
