A Sound Sleep For Better Muscular Health

A sound sleep may be critical to your fitness, although the statement may appear to be a cliché for most of us, still it is a well estabilished scientific fact that a proper sleep is a must for the sucess of any fitness or body building program. A sound and stress free sleep may be a step ahead of improving the fitness as well as losing the extra pounds, acclaims a report on sleep research conducted at the Department of Physical Education and Training at Shanxi Agricultural University, China.

A few important advantages of having a sound sleep past a hectic exercising schedule are detailed here under:

Muscles repair themselves while we are fast asleep
A tension less sleep of 7-8 hours at night improves the muscle recovery period and helps regaining muscle structure as well as ameliorating the muscular wear and tear.

Reduces the risk of cardiac problems
A proper sleep during night is a must to reduce cardiac problems. It is a thoroughly researched conclusion that a strong heart is a key to having a fit body, fully functional heart directly helps to have better and strenuous training session.

Sleep reduces stress hormone production
Cortisol is a stress hormone produced due to sleeplessness, wakefulness or apnea and it reduces the gains in physical fitness and muscles. Therefore, to reduce the risk of cortisol production, a proper nights sleep is recommended in a physical training or body building program.

In case of non-functionality of your body building programs it is recommended by the experts to have a close look on sleep habits. A lack of sleep reduces the level of muscle gain hormone testosterone, which could be brought back to normal basal level by ensuring a proper sleep cycle.

It would be important to mention that a proper balance of how much you sleep is a must. Too much sleep i.e. more than 8-9 hours a day may also backfire and reduce the gains from your bodybuilding programs. Therefore, ensure a balanced daily schedule and a proper sleep at night to gain the maximum from your bodybuilding training efforts.
