A pull up bar is a powerful piece of exercise equipment that lets you the flexibility to do multiple exercises on it. It is generally associated with free exercises that involve mastering ones body weight.
Now what is a pull up bar?
Its simple…the pull up bar is a horizontally placed bar placed at a particular height in a section of the gym. Pull up bars come in a variety of incremental additions to enhance the flexibility they give to exercises. They may be slightly twisted at the ends, so that they coordinate with you natural wrist hold-position, or they might come as a straight piece attached to a frame.
Who can do exercises on pull up bars?
- People who have problems like a dislocated shoulder, bad back, hip problems, wrist problems like metacarpal syndrome should take proper advice from a qualified physical instructor before doing the exercise. Since exercises on a pull up bar involve harnessing ones own body weight, these problems may further aggravate.
- Overweight people should avoid pull up bar exercises as the effect of overweight can make the joints weak.
Exercises on the pull up bar
Chin ups
This exercise is good to build size to the back. It also targets the biceps, and is good to give your biceps a good stretch workout. It can give you good shoulder girth as well. Overall, it’s a good upper body workout.
To do a chin up
- Hold the pull up bar in a front-grip (palms facing outward).
- Hang your body steady with your arms. To make your body more steady, you can clasp one leg with the other.
- Slowly bring your body up and till your chin passes the bar.
- Slowly bring your body down, and make sure your chin does not thud against the pull up bar
- Repeat the exercise with an underhand grip
Body horizontals
This is an excellent exercise to stretch workout your abdomens and also make your back stronger.
- Take help from an assistant.
- Place your legs over the pull up bar, and hand your body steady.
- Slowly raise your torso and bring it to a horizontal position
- Return to the original position again
