Benefits of Green Tea
Green tea is made from leaf buds of the plant Camellia sinensis. Green tea is used extensively in eastern countries, especially in China and Japan. Green tea has plenty of good stuff to offer. Green tea has fat burning capabilities and is ideal for weight loss.
Scientific research has proven this benefit of green tea time and again. So what gives green tea the advantage? It is said that green tea has plenty of powerful antioxidants that are useful to decrease the risk of cardio vascular disease, increase the body’s calorie burning ability, stop formation of cancerous cells etc.
Green tea’s abundance in antioxidants kills the free radicals in the body. Free radicals damage healthy cells in the body. Green tea also does wonders for aging. Its antioxidants slow down the aging process. It also increases stamina.
Green tea is a good preventive measure for cancers like lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer etc. This happens because the properties in green tea make the cancerous cells kill itself – a kind of cell-suicide. Regular drinking of green tea is proved to prevent cancer from spreading to other parts of the body.
Making Green Tea
Firstly you need to take stock of how many servings of green tea you will need. Use one teaspoon of tea leaves for one cup. So if you want 10 cups, it means ten teaspoons of tea leaves.
- Use pure water. Don’t use tap water. To purify water, you can use water from a water purifier
- Now boil the water at a moderate temperature. Otherwise it will make the green tea leaves lose its properties to extreme heat. This temperature is about 80 degrees celsius. To check this, you can use a simple logic. Water boils at 100 degrees celsius. So just take note that you don’t let water boil. Don’t boil the leaves along with the water. Keep the tea leaves separate.
- After you have sufficiently heated the water, place the tea leaves in a sieve or strainer over a mug. Pour the water into the sieve and let it pass over the tealeaves. The resultant water that comes through the sieve is flavored with green tea leaves.
- Serve and drink.
