Many people think that running is done just to lose extra fat from their body. Well, to some extent it’s true, as many people start running in order to shed extra fat on their body or to maintain weight. To everyone’s surprise, running is packed with so many health and psychological benefits. It’s a wonderful workout for toning your body, along with maintaining your health. Some people run just because they love to run.

One of benefit that is known to people is, it helps in losing weight. People find it as an easy method to cast off the extra fat from their body or to maintain their weight. Running follows the simple rule that helps in losing weight i.e. burn calories. Running requires a lot of energy, which means burning of calories.
Running put physical demands on the bones and muscles which makes them stronger. So, those who exercise regularly have fewer chances of loosing bones and muscles in comparison to their counterparts. It slows down the aging process. It promotes that hormone which helps in staying young.
It reduces the risk of cancer and stroke. Running is often recommended to people who are suffering from diabetes, hypertension and osteoporosis. It maintains the elasticity of arteries as while running, arteries expand and contract three times than usual. It increases your HDL (good) cholesterol, thus reducing the risk of blood clotting, lower the blood pressure and encourages the 50% use of lungs that usually go unused. Running creates a higher concentration of lymphocytes, thus increasing the immunity.
Running is very effective for relieving stress. It allows you the time to think about your problems or to escape from them for some time. Speed runs are good to take out your anguish.
Running is very good for those who are suffering from depression or are feeling low because of their problem. Running release endorphins, natural pain killer that boost your mood.
It increase your confidence, gives a feeling of empowerment and freedom because you know that your legs and body are strong and capable. It gives the power to clear your obstacles.
Running not only train your body, but it also train your mind. Your will and strength increases from long runs and you learn focus and determination by clearing the obstacle that come in your way while running.
It also improves your coordination. Don’t get shocked to know this. Well. When you do trail running, i.e. running on unpaved track which is full of obstacles and tree roots, you require lot of control and concentration. Regular runners quickly learn to control their body as to prevent stumbling and tripping. Running on paved path also require body to coordinate to keep the runner upright and follow the right path.
