What routine or regime you select is dependent on several factors, age, sex, goals and overall physical fitness. There is no such thing as “one routine fits all. Without getting too technical for purposes of our overview here, let’s take a very simple, straightforward approach.

When putting together a bodybuilding routine you can follow you need to make it so you can consistently follow it! It is nice to have all these lofty intentions of how your going to change your life completely to gain muscle but this is not realistic and ends up in failure! When making a plan take into consideration your commitments and realistically assess when will be the most likely time you should workout in order to always follow through! The same goes for your eating schedule! Be creative!

Don’t copy other people’s routine!

For bodybuilding starters, it may come as a small surprise to learn that achieving the type of body Arnold Schwarzenegger has is not all about reading up Pumping Iron and copying the moves that he made in his prime. Thus, those who feel that copying bodybuilding routines such as those used by a Mr. Universe or a Mr. Olympias may end up a bit disappointed when their bodies do not become the sculpted masterpieces that Arnold achieved or those of other Mr. Universes.

The foremost criteria in selecting a bodybuilding routing or program is whether the program has ben experimentally tested. This is the only objective method to determinethe effectiveness of the program. For example, in a controlled lab experiment, testing results is compared for the group not using the program against the group which applied the program. The results can be easily intrepreted and quantified by comparing the gains achieved by each group.

An effective body building routine will concentrate on working certain parts of the body just one day a week. You should also be sprinkling in a cardio workout here and there as well. You need to have rest days to allow your body to heal the damage that you have done to it, so be sure to take at least two days off.

An effective body building routine is important in order for you to achieve your body building goals. When coming up with a routine, be sure that you are keeping those goals in mind and then devise a plan that works for you. Having a sound body building routine will let you realize your body building goals.

In a bodybuilding routine, the “just do it and see” attitude will not produce any significant results, especially long term. Short term gains may be made, but a plateau will be reached very quickly with an ad hoc approach to training. What a bodybuilding routine needs is a program that allows progressive fitness training. Guidance on increasing your workout loads and periodic progress monitoring is essential to know if the bodybuilding routine you have is working. Regular visits to the weighing scales, size measurements, and one-rep maximums are the easiest and most direct way to measure your progress with your bodybuilding.
