Breathing Exercises To Improve The Lung Capacity And Chest Area

Breathing exercises, and control over ones ability to breathe properly, for refueling the body with its prime requirement i.e. the oxygen is a very important aspect of fitness and well being. If you have been going through our blog regularly, you would be aware about the importance of breathing exercises, etc. for improving the total health and fitness.

How important is it to have more ?

Breathing comes to us as a natural process, which is programmed in our sub conscious mind. Although, what our mind is not programmed for is to breathe properly such that it enhances the vitality and health. Since, our lung capacity is decisive in improving our performace levels hence, it is very important to explore various exercises that can ensure a better lung capacity.

Breathing exercise to enhance the lung capacity?

One of the very good authority on health and fitness, Paul Bragg formulated a power breathing program which has been widely accepted especially by the doctors for the treatment of patients with respiratory disorder.

In this case, we are illustrating a technique which was reported by Dr. Bragg to enhance the lung capacity. To erpform this exercise, first of all stand upright on a flat surface. As you are standing, get your knees relaxed then bend over, as you are bending exhale loudly and completely to remove the air completely exhale the air already occupying your lungs. As you bend down you can also push your abdominal uscles back and expel out the gases completely.

As soon as you have completed the exhaling of air, get back to the standing position and make sure you inhale the fresh air as much as possible. Fill in the air to your lungs (the maximum you can) and then hold this posture for a period of 15-20 seconds. While holding the breath, stretch the arms above your head and to make sure you allow your lungs the complete air capacity. Make 4-5 reps on a daily basis; you would be startled by the freshness that you will feel after completing this exercise.
