Causes of Weight Gain

Increased Calorie Intake – Several studies conducted in concerned field reveal that energy requirement of body varies from person to person due to variance in daily activities. Intake of calories more than daily requirement of body leads towards gaining of weight.
Diet Quality – Including excess of saturated fat, sugar, processed foodstuff, and junk food in daily diet is also a causative factor for weight gain.
Low Physical Activities – The level of physical activity that an individual daily performs plays a key role in maintaining weight. An inferior level of physical activity leads to decreased rate of metabolism which further results in accumulation of fat in body. A person keen to prevent obesity should workout daily for effectual burning of fat.
Thyroid Problems – Abnormal functioning of thyroid gland also contributes towards gaining of weight. As per medical journals, improper functioning of thyroid gland decreases metabolic rate in body which results in inferior burning of calories.
Elevated Level of Insulin – Persons diagnosed with soaring levels of insulin in body are more prone to gain weight as compared to people with balanced levels of insulin.
Genes – As per a survey conducted in US reveals that almost twenty five percent of cases diagnosed with obesity or problem of weight gain are due to genetic predisposition towards weight gain.
Low Level of Estrogen – Females experiencing menopause are prone to gain weight as during menopause, the levels estrogen in body starts declining which triggers extent and amount of fat cells in body to compensate the increasing demand of estrogen in body.
Testosterone – Testosterone also known as muscle building hormone assists in burning excess fat in body to build and maintain muscle mass. It is imperative for persons indulged in body building activities to prevent deficiency of testosterone as it encourages weight gain.
Human Growth Hormone – The deficiency of HGH in human body decreases lean muscular mass and increases storage capacity of fat in body, especially post age of fifty years.
Cravings – Improper dietary and lifestyle habits are main causative factors for increased food cravings.
A person experiencing food cravings between major meals should avoid consumption of junk foods and rather emphasize on intake of healthy foods like raw vegetables and fresh juices to control overeating.
