The thought of a diet is enough to make you want to eat more. The endless schedules and lists that you have to keep, coupled with the fear of staying hungry is enough to scare the bravest of people from setting out on the diet journey.
Diet speed-dating
There are more people that enter into casual diet relationships every day. These sad people hop from diet to diet never settling on a life change that actually works. Diet dating does not work and leads to emotional distress and physiological problems that just add to the cycle.
Losing more than weight
Losing muscle mass is a big problem with the average diet and the problems associated with this loss only increase over the age of 40. Lasting weight loss is almost impossible without a solid supply of muscle mass to burn calories, so the diet dating that occurs only makes losing weight and keeping it off impossible.
No more dates-commitment
If you want to lose weight and keep it off you should consider a healthy lifetime commitment and not just another diet date. This commitment takes time where you assess the way you eat and how your body reacts to that food. Ask sensible questions like, do I eat more sugar, salt or saturated fat than I should? If the answer is yes then you need to cut them down or even out of your meals.
The best way to make the change to a lifetime commitment is to sit down and plan out your shopping list. List the things that you would originally buy and if they are not healthy, choose their healthy alternative. For example, if you like pasta go for the whole wheat variety instead of the regular. Wise choices before you shop will help you keep the junk out of your shopping cart.
If you have never thought about a vegetarian diet, give it a thought. There are great cookbooks and web recipes available and you will be surprised at the taste combinations that you can come up with. It will not take long to realize that thin can taste good and feel even better.
