In the hurry blurry of our fast life, we generally forget the importance of drinking optimum amount of water. Water is not just a mere requirement of the body but is also an essential component for cleansing and detoxification of our bodily mechanism. An important question lingering in your mind would be, Does water really help in loosing weight? How can drinking lot of water help us loosing weight when all other efforts have gone in vane? What does water therapy do to improve weight loss?

A very important aspect of drinking lot of water i.e. nearly 12-14 glasses of water a day, is that this may double the metabolic rate of the body by around 40%. A 40% increase in metabolic rate implies that you would be burning your calories at almost double the pace you were doing earlier. Since loosing body weight has an almost direct correlation with metabolism, hence, it is understandable that water intake is immensely helpful in this context.

Can drinking water alone be useful in loosing body weight?

It is not yet thoroughly researched that just by increasing water uptake you may end up loosing all the excess weight you have gained, what researchers are unequivocally supporting is that the increased uptake of water helps in improving metabolism, therewith improving weight loss, they are not yet confirmed with the fact that drinking water alone does this on its own. It is although well illustrated that exercising along with greater water intake helps in faster metabolism, a mandatory requirement to reduce weight quickly.

Apart from assisting in faster weight loss, drinking more water also improves skin quality by improved hydration, helps in reduction of stretch marks due to weight loss, improves renal performance, reduces chances of kidney problems and above all also helps in reducing the craving for food which also assists in controlling the obesity.
