Fasting May Be Helpful in Body Weight Loss

In a few religious sects, fasting is considered as a holy and sacred approach to reach divine eternities, fasting is also considered as a means to control once craving, thus improving concentration and focus.

Anyways, the purpose of discussion has nothing to do with the religious aspects of fasting, it has been scientifically validated that fasting could be an excellent means to reduce body weight and also to improve metabolic processes leading to the consumption of excess calories. It is therefore interesting to note that, with a well planned schedule of eating and fasting on a weekly basis a dietary control over obesity could be achieved.

Fasting facts to reduce obesity

It is mandatory for us to understand the fact that there is a way of life without food for short intervals in life. As a part of our routine, we have got so used to consuming junk food and ready to eat material that we sometimes forget the importance of remaining hungry. By recommending fasting we are not proposing starvation, what we are proposing is a one day per week abstinence from regular diet.

Fasting when done with a purpose like, weight loss or fitness improvement reverses the toxic, oxidative damages already incurred by our body. Fasting also helps in consumption of fat reserves of the body i.e. lipolysis leading to reduction in fat overload in sickly obese bodies.

The Fasting advantages

As already mentioned fasting improves mental acumen and keenness improving mental fitness. Fasting can be considered as a safety mechanism which fulfills the common saying ‘prevention is better than cure’. Fasting helps in removal of toxic overloads of our physiological system. Fasting also ensures a cleansing action of the gut, GIT and urinary tract.

The Fasting regimen

A very important thing to understand before you start to stick to a fasting schedule is, while fasting ensure that you take lot of liquids, especially water this ensures a complete effectiveness of waste removal. Do not disturb your exercising schedule, worrying about the lack of energy due to fasting; your body has enough in stores to meet your energy demands. Last but not the least; in case of energy drain or fatigue try and take rich energy source fruit like banana to meet the instant bodily demand.
