Does liver needs exercise? What has liver got to do with exercise, and how can we think of exercising liver? it is understandable that these can be a few questions lingering in your mind while going through the title, but the fact is that liver also needs exercise and a fit liver is a very important requirement for complete body fitness, as well as well being.

Liver is the central organ of all body metabolisms and other detoxification processes in the human body. Liver not only helps in cleaning out the bodily waste, it also responsible for the good effects obtained after taking certain dietary and fitness supplements. It is very important for any health conscious person to understand that liver plays a pivotal role in preparing anabolic compounds and in the clearance site of the substances which are generated past their utilization by the body.

How can we exercise liver appropriately?

There are a few regular exercises or work outs that can be more than beneficial for the liver to achieve health and well being. These are detailed here under:

The first and easiest exercise is by using the finger pressures, first try and press your fingers below your abdomen and locate the position of liver. A slight push in the direction upward i.e. towards ribs when repeated atleast 30-40 times daily is really helpful for exercising the liver to fitness.

Another good option is thumping the liver while lying down on your left side. A quick but less intense thumping makes sure that the liver functions properly and is receiving the attention and care it deserves.

A very good exercise for liver detoxification and cleansing is a Yoga posture known as ‘Kapalbharti’ this involves a very rapid breathing with force which presses the abdominal muscles as well as liver sufficiently to make it toned and exercised. It would be advisable that the pressure of the exercise should not be very harsh as the liver is a delicate organ and care should also be taken in people consuming regular alcohol.
