February 12, 2009

It is a known fact that we tend to push our self a bit further whenever there is a competition or a tournament that we are attending. This inherent ability and push also means an increased overburden on the body making us more susceptible to various problems of health and especially of muscular soreness.

Therefore, it is always recommendable to ensue upon a proper routine and get yourself prepared for the big day of the competition.

What are the dietary requirements?

It is very important for you to remember that, carbohydrates may be the source of vital energy, but they can also be a major cause of health problems if taken in an inappropriate or excessive amount. Therefore, it is very important in most cases to cut the carbohydrates consumption down by nearly 50%-60%.

Although some people recommend a total cut but that seems to be a bit impractical as well as harsh on the bodily system exposing it to some other untoward effects. On the other hand, try and consume as much proteins and some fat calories if possible.

Dietary supplements that can work

There are a lot of glycogen sources that can turn out to be a great help in enhancing your final performance. Alpha lipoic acid, creatine, vanadyl sulphate are some of the worth trying dietary supplements apart from various nutraceutical herbal supplements as well. It is always better to consult a Physician or a specialist before making any decision on the aspect of supplement of choice.

A few other tips that may help in getting the final touch

There are a few other tested tips that may be tried out depending on choice to enhance the last minute performance improvement. These include taking 1-2 table spoon of glycerol to increase vascularity this can enhance the increase in lean muscle weight and enhance muscle vascularity.

Although glycerol ingestion for longer periods may be amajor cause of dehydration as well. Apart from this a glass or two of red wine may also assist you in getting the desired vascularity for and thus a better show time performance.

Make sure to have a dummy competition two weeks prior to the final one, it helps you to understand what works best for you.
