Low calorie diet

If you have just stopped dining out because you are worried that it will derail your weight loss program, then you need not do that anymore. Here are few tips on how to maintain a low calorie diet, no matter wherever you eat.
The first thing is to be aware of the cholesterol and saturated fat content in foods. When you dine out, look for foods that have been prepared using healthy oils and ingredients and by using healthy methods of cooking.
Your choice can be those foods that have been cooked in healthy oils like vegetable oils or olive oils. Avoid butter. Skip the bread, if you cannot, ask for whole grain bread. Poultry and meat are rich in fats so before you take them, trim the fat parts. Make sure that you do not take more of them.
Select foods that have been either boiled, steamed, roasted, grilled, poached, baked or stir-fried, these are healthy ways of cooking and will not do you much harm.
Be careful of foods that are high in sodium. Pickled foods, condiments like ketch up and sauces have been prepared using too much salt in them, if you cannot completely do away with them; limit your intake at least. Just stay away from the salt shaker.
For appetizers, you can select fruits and vegetables instead of going for foods such as snacks which just have too much of salt in them.
Never choose a potato salad. Salad toppings must not contain any eggs, chopped meats or cheese. Ask for your salad dressing on the side and also see that the dressing is low on fat and calorie content. Limit your intake of salad dressings.
For drinks you can choose tea, coffee and club soda. And if you take alcohol, keep it moderate. Do not forget to take water.
Lastly, do not indulge yourself on oversized servings. You can pack half of it or share it with your friend.
When ordering for foods anywhere, do not forget your diet goals. These days with people growing more conscious about what they eat, it will not be a problem for you to find a restaurant that respects the wishes of its customers. In fact, there are some restaurants where you can find an icon for low calorie diet.
Being on a low calorie diet does not necessarily mean that it has to spoil your plan of eating out. So enjoy your meal.
