Maintaining A Perfect Posture To Stay Healthy
January 6, 2009
Posture i.e. the way we sit, stand, sleep, walk, or even move around leisurely could be a reasonable cause that affects health and fitness. It may seem ironic and stupid at the onset but it is very important that we maintain an appropriate posture throughout our work life in order to ensure a completely fit and pain free physical health.
Good posture is a health insurance and assurance
If we imbibe this fact into our minds properly, than there is a surety for a healthy life span. As we all know that the spines of human beings are carved and curved in such a way that they oppose the naturally acting gravitational pull and hence, help us in staying erect and upright. The muscle sheath near the backbone helps it in remaining firm and erect and therefore the health of the muscular region is highly important to ensure back fitness.
Stretching the muscles regularly and exercising the back therefore becomes important to keep the muscles strengthened. Sitting in a wayward position or over stretching the spine, could therefore lead to irreparable damage in the muscles and the ligaments and end up in a painful situation.
A few postural tips to be followed on regular basis
Walk straight and upright
It is very important that while walking you ensure that you place equal pressure on both the legs, your foot palms are designed to take up the pressure, also ensure that you place the whole feet completely and firmly on the ground. Never stoop or bend unless you have supported the legs properly.
Sit well fit well
Well as appropriately spelled out, the way you sit decides how fit you are, did you ever imagine that we spend the valuable time of our lives sitting on the chair, therefore a proper sitting is important to stay dynamic and fit. While you sit, make sure that the spine is stretched up. Place yourself such that you are well back against the chair. Shoulders should be slightly back, chest raised up. Head should be held high and not too much forward. Try and avoid crossing the legs as this interferes with the proper blood supply to the lower portions.
In brief, maintain a proper posture and enjoy a stress free painless body at work as well as during leisure time.
