While most of us may be very well conversant with the term weight training, resistance training may not be a very familiar phrase in this regard. While a weight trainer or a body builder would certainly emulate a picture of a man with huge bulging biceps, perfectly crafted muscles and an amazingly strong body, the term resistance trainer would not picture out this way. As a matter of fact the two terms are not so dissimilar and are almost complimentary to each other.

What does resistance training imply?

Resistance training is basically any kind of exercise which is made tougher by applying resistance. The source of resistance could be weights, or other movable objects, and also stationary objects as well, for an example a wall, stair case, floor etc. Whatever the part of the body you are exercising with or whatever the source of resistance may be, it is important to understand that there are few important considerations and objectives one must be cognizant about before indulging in resistance training.

Before beginning

It is very important to know your limitations as far as resistance training is concerned. Do not get persuaded by the other fellows working out hard in the gym, getting inspiration is not bad but misjudging your own work out potentials could be fatal. It is also important to know your body, get a thorough medical check up regarding your metabolic rate, total heart rate etc. Avoid the exercises which may affect the body parts having history of injury or damage.

Gaining muscles is not a one day affair it is a matter of long, deliberate, diligent hard work with some smartness of proper routine planning.
