Stretching Exercises For The Head And The Neck
Is stretching a vital part of exercising the body? The answer is a big yes. Accept it or not, it has been proven by various trainers and fitness experts that stretching is a vital requirement of any fitness program to be successful. Stretching not only gets the body ready for a stressful exercise session, but also ensures the flexibility and improved range of motions for the body before and after exercising or building up body. In this article, we would try to have a look at few of the stretching exercises for a vital part of your body i.e. the head and the neck.
Exercise for the head and neck
Head rotation exercises: Head rotation to the either sides could be a very useful workout. In order to perform this stretching exercise, turn your head to the either side slowly, hold the head in one position for the maximum time possible. Even if you could do it for 4-5 seconds on either side it would be sufficient. Try and repeat the exercise 4-5 times during a session and twice in a day.
Head lift exercise: This exercise regimen is highly beneficial and useful from the point of view of stretch ability of neck. In order to perform this activity, you would need to lie down on the floor, further bend your knees, pull your head a little forward, place the hands at the back of the neck and then slowly attempt to bring the head forward by applying pressure. An important way to determine whether you are doing your exercise appropriately is, that while doing this action you must feel a slight stretch pain in your neck and not the back. Follow this schedule for 3-4 times during your exercising.
Vertical and horizontal neck tilts: These are also vital neck stretching exercises, in theses exercise you have to move your head in a horizontal or vertical position for 5-6 times and hold on one position for the time limit possible.
All these stretching exercises ensures prevention from stiff neck as well as prevention of neck and back problems.
