The health benefits of losing weight

June 11, 2008

weight loss and losing weight, the first things that probably come to your mind are either those “lose weight fast !!” articles that are in every magazine and newspaper in the world that never work and are written by some personal training idiot that has no idea what they’re talking about… or maybe you’re thinking of all of those weight loss pills that claim to be safe and allow you to “eat whatever you want and still lose weight because the pill will do all of the work for you” or whatever stupid line they are using to get you to buy their useless unsafe weight loss product. Or, maybe you’re thinking of rice cakes and never eating and being hungry all day long.Health Benefits To Losing Weight

Make just a few changes to your kitchen and pantry shelves. Just a few changes can get you closer to your weight loss goals. Here’s an example: If you use corn and peanut oil, replace it with olive oil

More changes you can make in your kitchen is changing from white bread to whole wheat bread.

Why not trade in those fatty cold cuts like salami and bologna and replace them with canned tuna, sliced turkey breast, lean ham and lean roast beef.

Some of the health benefits of losing weight are obvious: lower risk of diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure problems, and joint and bone issues. But the other benefits are often not thought about. Losing weight improves self-esteem and can cause a more positive outlook on life. Losing weight will improve the skin and will also cause people to pay more attention to the loser.

Marriage and other relationships will also become better: the previously obese partner will be more outgoing and willing to participate in activities.

Exercise

The combination of a healthy diet and exercise is essential for weight control and weight loss. Choose an exercise you enjoy and one that you can integrate into your lifestyle. If you have been leading a sedentary lifestyle, visit your GP for a check-up first. Start gently and gradually increase the amount you do. Exercise doesn’t have to be a strenuous aerobic class; walking is just as beneficial. Little things, like walking up stairs instead of taking lifts are also very worthwhile.

In addition to the risk of sexual dysfunction, being overweight increases the risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

Further more, high blood pressure, diabetes or pre-diabetes, heavy alcohol consumption, and blood-pressure drugs all put a man at higher risk for ED. And weight loss can help you reduce or eliminate nearly all of these risk factors, according to Atlanta-based urologist David Perlow, MD.

Weight Loss & Breakfast

Losing weight may be a lot easier if breakfast becomes a priority every day, and soyfoods may help with weight loss efforts when substituted for higher caloric foods. Eating breakfast provides a feeling of fullness, or satiety, which helps curb hunger and prevents overeating of high-calorie snacks and foods. In addition, research indicates fewer calories may be consumed at the next eating occasion or meal.

Diabetes.

A weight gain of 11 to 18 pounds increases the risk for developing type 2 diabetes to twice that of those who maintain a healthy weight. There is a direct link between overweight and diabetes: More than 80 percent of people with diabetes are overweight or obese. You can lower your risk for developing type 2 diabetes by losing weight and increasing your physical activity. Recent research shows that a 5 to 7 percent weight loss can prevent type 2 diabetes in people who are at high risk for the disease.
