Excessive workout with the abdominal muscles, too many stomach crunches or a heavy training session may all be contributing to sore ab muscles. Now, the point that comes to the mind is upto what extent does the sore ab muscles hamper the exercise schedule, and what are the major consequences of excessive ab workout?
What are the major causes of sore abdominal muscles?
Apart from over workout and/or excessive number of crunches putting an undue and unbearable pressure on the abdominal muscles, there can be other reasons for abdominal muscle problems as well. Muscle pain may be of any of the three kinds viz. Muscle damage, tissue damage and muscle spasms all these conditions lead to a cellular level damage finally resulting in ever-lasting injury in case proper care is not takes.
How to avoid sore abdominal muscles?
There are lot of probabilities to avoid any kind of muscular damage to the abdominal muscles:
The first thing would be to avoid standing or sitting too long before the exercise, it is always better to have a small leg elevation session before beginning with ab crunches as it ensures the increase blood flow to the upper portions of the body. This increased blood flow in longer term prevents muscle fatigue and wear and tear. Another important focal point should be that, in case of heavy weight trainings on regular basis one should try and have a light day or a break in between. The breaks not only help to reduce the monotony of the exercise session but they also help you to rejuvenate your muscle system by rushing fresh blood in damaged areas, meanwhile increased blood flow also reduces the load of muscle waste, mainly lactic acid.
Another important point to remember in the mind always is that post training session is the time of recovery and healing, it is always better to allow body to recover to its most able best before throwing it into action once more. Always remember the famous saying “Prevention is better than Cure”.
