We all are very well aware of the fact that a balance of all functions of the body is must to ensure complete fitness. Similarly, we are also cognizant that a balanced diet consisting of all the nutritional requirements of the body is also a must to ensure that we fulfill optimum nutritional requirements. In the same context, it is also very important to understand that, a physical activity program should also take care of all the necessary requirements of our body. An exercise program for fitness should be designed in such a way that it leads to the exercising of the whole body.
In general, a few parts of the body require more care and exercise in comparison to a few others. These body parts mainly include the muscles of the shoulder and the arms, abdomen and back, legs etc. Apart from this fitness program should also keep into mind the exercising of heart, lungs and the blood vessels.
Walking and the benefits
Walking we all know, is one form of exercise that most of us are always involved in until unless, we are very sick or weak. What we all are not aware of is the fact that, walking in different ways could be a very beneficial activity to exercise and improve whole body fitness.
Advantages of walking as an exercise
Walking does not require any expensive equipments, all it needs is a free space, relaxed mind and a will to stay fit. Walk you way through to fitness by mix and match i.e. take every opportunity to walk around once daily for 30-45 minutes. In a leisurely walk, try and incorporate short periods of rapid walking followed by very slow leisurely walking and reps of the same. This kind of activity not only ensures optimum blood flow, but also adds to the improvement of lung and heart performance. Try to increase your endurance by increasing the time for rapid walk.
In general, walking is one of the best form of exercises and could be highly advantageous to improve muscular fitness specially of the lower portions of the body.
