Water is the sole harbinger of life, we on earth are the privileged beings, for having the maximum authority over this most important substance present in abundance on earth. To add to our repertoire, we would be discussing an interesting new way of using water as a therapy, the hydrotherapy.

What does hydrotherapy means?

As the term clearly suggests, hydro meaning water and therapy meaning treatment, the term hydrotherapy signifies the concept of treating diseases with the help of water. This treatment may involve the use of water by drinking i.e. as a cleanser or may also involve hot water bat, cold water strings etc. Water in its different physical forms constitutes a major contributor not only for an optimum performance, but also in healing and treatment.

The roots of water therapy

It is not a modern day phenomena but a long lasting traditionally acclaimed format of healing, in which hydrotherapy has been acclaimed and used for treatment of diseases. As a matter of fact, bathing in hot water springs and sulphur springs have been considered as a major boon in treatment of skin ailments. In almost all traditional cultures like the Roman medicine system, traditional Chinese medicine or Ayurvedic medicine places a lot of important for use of water in various health aspects.

Benefits of water therapy

Water therapy in the form of douches or warm packs, sauna bath etc. can be functional in various ways. Water therapy is a good stress reducer. The mechanism involved is either due to physiological and mechanistic modulations or due to the thermal effects on the bodies sensory stimuli.

The stimulus or signals generated by the water in hot or cold form sensitizes the body to the extent that it may modulate the circulation and flow of blood in appropriate ways, this helps not only in fighting pain or skin afflictions but also to enhance the recovery from cardiac and respiratory disorders.

If you have a desire to tone up your body, have a pain free and relaxed muscular structure, improved circulation and immune function as well as stimulated digestion than you can use water therapy and assisted techniques.
