Weight loss and food addiction
Some of you are simply addicted to foods, you love eating, trying out new recipes, you know you are overweight but you cannot imagine missing the pleasure offered by a satisfying meal. Like other things, foods also have addictive substances…sugar, salts, fats to name some. Plus, processed foods come with more addictions like the opiod peptides and heterocyclic amines, the more you have, they make you desire for more.
With advertisements of foods teasing you from every corner, it is natural for your cravings to grow more. Yes, it is possible to control those cravings. You will need the determination and a plan to do so.
First of all, for few days, note down what you eat and how you feel before and after eating. Write down the reason for choosing to eat, whether you were hungry or you ate because of some emotional reason. Write down everything that you eat, the snacks, the drinks, etc. Check out with some sites, how many calories these foods gave you. If you are overeating, then you will find out, you can consider cutting out the calories. See if you have been taking lots of juices and sodas.
Now, you can start planning to lose weight. Firstly, cut down the amount of juices and sodas. If you are eating out of boredom or because you are an emotional eater, you need to check out for other ways of looking for comfort. You can talk to a friend, go for walks or pen down your feelings. Just make sure that you have planned to change certain things about your life.
Set goals for a week. Aim for one change per week. This way you will slowly be adapting to new way of lifestyle, losing your weight and maintaining a healthy weight later on. Giving up things you have liked for so long can be difficult, so allow yourself to give them up one step at a time. Do not plan to rush things and achieve success overnight. Work on one goal at a time, when you achieve success in it, you will be further motivated to continue.
Always remember that nothing is achieved without patience and hard work.
